"On a scale of 1 to 10, what is your love for Harry Potter?"	This is the question that started it all. We met on the online dating app Tinder, and after a pick-up line like that, how could we not continue talking? We talked almost every day for a month before we could make our schedules line up to meet. 	Our first date was on December 22, 2022. It was -17 degrees that night with a windchill of -45. Kara was a little apprehensive about meeting Jake. After all, what if Jake was a creep from the internet and Kara's car wouldn't start because of the extreme cold as she tried to get away? We both braved the weather to meet for the first time at P's Pizza, and we talked for 3 hours and agreed to meet again soon, which ended up being the very next day. 	Kara knew Jake's true feelings for her when he promised to make her 25 meals if she would cancel and throw away her Hello Fresh meals that she had stashed in the fridge. 	As we spent more and more time together, we both felt and knew we were the right person for each other. We truly complete each other in a way that neither of us thought was possible. 	Almost two years after we first met, Jake proposed to Kara at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in Florida in front of Christine, her parents, and her brother and his family. It was a perfect way for their love story to come full circle.

Megan and Kara have been the very best of friends.  We knew each other in high school, but our friendship really took off when there were fresh out of college and living in Omaha not even 5 miles apart.

Fanny and her partner, Jeff, have been friends with Jake for many years.  Soon after I met Fanny, we became great friends and have bonded while spending countless days on the golf course together.

Christine is Jake's daughter and Kara's soon-to-be stepdaughter.  Christine is a fun-loving kid who loves gaming on her computer, volleyball, and plushies.  She makes our lives whole, and we love her to pieces!

Nick and Jake became friends in 2020 when a mutual acquaintance introduced us to play golf together.  Our friendship quickly grew as he joined my golf team.  Over time we played lots of golf and enjoyed many beverages along the way.  When Staber's was in need of a new salesman, Nick was the perfect fit.  As the years went by and life changed, Nick was there to help me out when Christine and I were in need of a roof over our heads. Although it's not the longest friendship I have ever had, it has definitely been one of the best.

Jeff and Jake have known each other for at least a score.  Knowing each other from high school, their friendship started a little later in life when Jake moved back to Iowa and lived in a house near his parents' homestead.  Jeff would come over to his parents' house and walk his old dog Turner, and they would converse from time to time.  As time went on, there were gatherings of sausage festivals, 4th of July parties, football games, and golf that connected them along with being there when a friend was in need.

Zach and Jake have known each other since high school as they graduated together in 2005.  Zach moved to Iowa City, and Jake moved to Arizona after high school.  Their friendship was reunited after their friend Pete Johnson had passed.  Zach would come to Sioux City to visit family, and Jake became Zach's friend to hang with when he was in town.  To this day, they still plan trips a couple times a year to get together to play golf and enjoy themselves.
